Flashmob Realidade Aumentada

The cameras on cell phones were used as sensors to read the codes all over the floor. Thus, it was possible to view images in 3D avatars. The students of PUC-Rio created two themes with air of nostalgia and history to the Flash Mob. It was rebuilt the old Pier de Ipanema, famous in the ’70s by bringing together icons of the counterculture and have been the scene of the rise of surf culture in Brazil.
The space was designed by computer and digitally inserted the original latitude and longitude. Who watched the horizon with a Motorola phone, Android, or with an iPhone, could review the Pier de Ipanema. The highlight, however, was the picture of Tom Jobim playing piano, viewed through QR codes printed on the towels around the site. The action brought together over 50 participants of all ages on Saturday, across the street Joana Angelica, and had a visit from the son of Tom Jobim, Paulo Jobim, to attend the event.
Two types of software were used:
The Pier de Ipanema was created by TAB worldmedia with Layar technology .The software lets you position the image on GPS coordinated (in Google Maps for example) that can be viewed with Android phone and iPhone. The images of Tom Jobim playing the piano were visible using AndAR software.
