Technical details & requirements
1) Recording of a video
A videorecording needs to be made of someone carrying a message sign with a substitutable 'AR marker' sign.
The square should be prominently visible, zooming in and out of the person, to achieve an effect of nearness.
To match the situation on the square, a daylight, evening- and nighttime version need to be made.
2) Bluetooth scanning computer
A couple of software programs and scripts need to be installed on a Mac computer or laptop to turn it into a bluetooth scanning and
processing machine.
The system needs to be placed close to the crowd in the vicinity of the projection screen.
There should be no thick walls between the computer and the people, to allow for optimal bluetooth scanning.
3) Projection software
Custom software will place the appropriate text in the projected video and
transform it so it follows the movement, position, skewness, distance and scale of the message sign.
A long as there's no new input retrieved from the bluetooth scanning process, the video keeps showing the man searching
for one particular name.
A system constantly scans for bluetooth names, which are configured in people's phones. Often, people have forgotten about the fact they substituted 'Nokia N95'
with a name like "Dorothy's phone".
When the probability of having to do with someone's firstname is high enough, a projected video of a man carrying a name-sign
is digitally altered in real-time.
The person who will see his/her name, is getting the strange feeling of being traced and waited for!
Because the video footage isn't live but previously recorded, the man on the huge screening is a ghost appearance. He seems to be among the people on the square, but he can never be found.
